I can’t imagine what it is like to be deaf, mute and suffering from violence and abuse. What I can understand is the frustration that results from hearing loss, and not being able to have normal conversations. My hearing aids help a lot, but nothing compares to having the normal hearing that I was born with.

Whenever I think of deaf women being violated in any way, it breaks my heart. Just imagine if you will, a woman who is beaten regularly, with no way to communicate that she needs help. In our hearing society, not everyone is interested in learning Sign Language in any form, so the deaf are limited to communicating with those who have the same problem, or those who have learned their language.
