Saint Valentines' Day Massacre
Dora Grant, and her son Nathanial Grant were shot to death on February 14,
1970 in Philadelphia. The newspaper headlines read, "Saint Valentines' Day Massacre." Dora was an abused woman for many years.
It had become normal to see her wearing sunglasses, because of the regular
black eyes that she had received. I don't think her live in boyfriend beat her children, but they witnessed many incidents
of domestic violence that they will never forget.
Dora was shot in the head in her dining room on that Valentines Day, and
her live in boyfriend shot her 9-year old son while he was watching television in the living room. Dora's other children,
were also present. Nathanial was killed because he was considered a "Mommy's
boy." Alcohol played a huge part in the murders of Dora and her son.
The killer was supposed to serve two life terms in jail; he did not.
